Requirements
Have a computer, an active internet connection, and a headset available for tutoring work at home. See below for the required computer specifications:
- CPU: Intel Core i5 or higher; Apple M1 Chip or higher
- Memory: 8GB or higher
- Internet speed: 10Mbps or faster with a stable connection
- Bluetooth: Version 4.0 or later
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 (Home or Pro) Version 25H2 or newer; Apple macOS Sequoia 15 or newer
* Official support for Windows 11 25H2 ends on October 12, 2027. Instructors should plan to update to a supported version before the Fall 2027 term due to security concerns.
* Apple macOS Sonoma 14 has already reached end of life and is no longer permitted. Apple macOS Sequoia 15 is expected to reach end of life around late 2027. Note that macOS Tahoe (26) is the final version supporting Intel-based Macs, while macOS 27 and later support Apple silicon only. Instructors should upgrade to macOS Tahoe (26) or newer before the term begins.
(Instructors who use another OS would need to check with us for confirmation about whether that OS is acceptable or not. Please be advised that devices running Chrome OS (e.g., Chromebooks) are not acceptable for use in Westgate programs due to software compatibility limitations.) - Browser: Microsoft Edge; Google Chrome latest version; Apple Safari 27 or newer
- Valid and active anti-virus software
- Web camera and microphone
- Adobe Acrobat Reader (latest version)
You would also need to agree to install applications that are required by Westgate.
Instructors working exclusively in the E-Learning Program are recommended to have a mobile device that meets the following specifications.
Mobile Device Specifications:
- iPhone or iPad: iOS / iPadOS 17 or newer
- Android phone or tablet: Android 14 or newer, with Google Play
- Agree to download the Microsoft Authenticator app, installed from the App Store or Google Play
- Any brand is fine. A SIM card or phone number is not needed - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enough
